Transitioning from medicine to public health, my MPH journey at PHFI Institute of Public Health Sciences (Deemed to be University) strengthened my passion for community health. The strong academic foundation, meaningful field exposure, and consistent mentorship prepared me well for real-world practice and helped me secure a placement at Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute even before my final results. I am deeply grateful to PHFI IPHS for shaping my purpose and direction in public health.

The Indian Institute of Public Health (IIPH Hyd) now PHFI IPHS DU has been pivotal in my development as a public health professional. Through the MPH program and research opportunities, I gained skills in mixed-methods research, qualitative mental health data, and climate risk evaluation. Currently, as a Consultant–Research Assistant on a Wellcome Trust project, I enhance qualitative mental health data methodologies and collaborate with international partners. My experience at IPHS has enabled me to translate health data into policy recommendations, lead evaluations in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, and support climate health planning. IPHS has instilled values of clarity, inclusivity, and collaboration, equipping me to positively impact public health globally.

Pursuing an MPH at IIPH-H now PHFI IPHS DU marks a meaningful turning point in my professional journey. IIPH-H’s inclusive, collaborative learning environment resonates deeply with my aspiration to shift from bedside care to implementation research at the grassroots level. This conviction has motivated me to step beyond my comfort zone—both professionally and geographically—by moving from western India to the south, in pursuit of training that will allow me to contribute more effectively to population health and health system strengthening.

Starting my career as a Junior Research Fellow, I pursued my MPH at IIPHH now PHFI IPHS DU to strengthen my foundation in public health research. The program provided a strong grounding in epidemiology, biostatistics, research methodology, and determinants of health. The diverse peer group and supportive faculty created a rich learning environment that encouraged discussion and critical thinking. During my master’s, I had the opportunity to contribute to a systematic literature review that led to a publication and to engage in ongoing research projects, which built my confidence and practical skills. My experience at IIPHH played a key role in shaping my public health career.
